Airborne Battle

The struggle for survival in nature is tense, passionate, and unforgiving. There can only be one victor. In this illustration, my goal was to convey the emotion of moment when either the falcon succeeds or the partridge escapes by utilizing rougher brush strokes and a dramatic backdrop. As an added detail, the falcon wears traditional falconry anklets and jesses, and the antennae of a radio transmitter can be seen trailing along the tail, all of which indicate an unseen third party to this battle.
